Role Context

New grad data scientists at Google are embedded in teams working on Search, Ads, Maps, YouTube, or Cloud. You will collaborate with engineers, product managers, and researchers to extract insights from petabyte-scale datasets using Google-internal tooling and open-source frameworks. A mentor and structured onboarding program support your ramp-up.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze large datasets to surface actionable insights for product and engineering teams
  • Build and evaluate statistical or ML models for ranking, personalization, or experimentation
  • Design and interpret A/B experiments to guide product decisions
  • Create dashboards and automated reports using Looker or internal tooling
  • Partner with data engineers to improve data quality and pipeline reliability
  • Present findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Requirements & Skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's in Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field (2025–2026 grad)
  • Proficiency in Python or R for data analysis and modeling
  • Strong SQL skills for querying large structured datasets
  • Familiarity with statistical inference, regression, and hypothesis testing
  • Experience with data visualization libraries or BI tools
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
