Role Context

Legal counsel at Meta are embedded with specific product or business areas rather than sitting in a centralized legal pool. You will attend product design reviews, advise on feature specifications, and help engineering and policy teams navigate the regulatory landscape across GDPR, CCPA, and emerging AI legislation. The role requires both depth in privacy law and the pragmatism to find workable legal paths for fast-moving product teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise product and engineering teams on privacy, data use, and AI regulatory requirements
• Review product specifications and feature launches for legal risk and regulatory compliance
• Provide guidance on GDPR, CCPA, and other applicable data protection frameworks
• Draft and negotiate technology-related agreements including data processing addenda
• Monitor regulatory developments and assess their impact on Meta's products and practices
• Collaborate with policy, communications, and government affairs teams on regulatory matters

Requirements & Skills

• JD from an accredited US law school and active bar admission
• 3+ years of technology or privacy law experience at a top law firm or in-house at a tech company
• Deep understanding of GDPR, CCPA, and global privacy regulations
• Experience advising on AI, data sharing, or platform liability is a strong plus
• Ability to give clear, practical legal guidance rather than purely risk-averse opinions
• Strong communication skills for translating legal complexity into business-actionable advice
