Data Scientist

Meta

Full-time Hybrid United States

Job Description

About This Role

Meta is hiring a Data Scientist to drive product and business decisions through rigorous analysis, experimentation, and statistical modeling. You will work directly with product managers and engineers to define metrics, design A/B tests, and surface insights that shape how billions of users experience Meta's platforms.

Job Overview

  • Job Title: Data Scientist
  • Company: Meta
  • Location: Menlo Park, CA / New York, NY / Seattle, WA / Austin, TX / Chicago, IL
  • Job Type: Full-time
  • Experience Level: Mid-level (2–5 years)
  • Salary Range: $48–$65/hr
  • Posted Date: 2026-06-01
  • Application Deadline: 2026-07-01

Role Context

Data scientists at Meta are embedded within product teams and own the analytical and experimental frameworks for their surface area. This is a highly collaborative role — you will define success metrics alongside product managers, design experiments, analyze results, and communicate findings clearly to influence roadmap decisions. Fluency in both statistics and SQL is essential; the role sits closer to applied statistics than pure machine learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define product metrics and measurement frameworks in partnership with PMs and engineers
  • Design and analyze A/B experiments, including power analysis and statistical validation
  • Build dashboards and automated reports to monitor key product health indicators
  • Conduct deep-dive analyses to diagnose product issues and identify growth opportunities
  • Develop predictive and segmentation models to inform targeting and personalization
  • Communicate findings clearly to cross-functional audiences including leadership

Requirements & Skills

  • 2+ years of data science experience in a product or tech company
  • Strong SQL skills and proficiency in Python (pandas, scipy, statsmodels)
  • Deep understanding of experiment design and statistical inference (p-values, confidence intervals, MDE)
  • Experience building dashboards in Tableau, Looker, or internal BI tools
  • Ability to translate analytical findings into actionable product recommendations
  • Master's or PhD in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field preferred

Benefits & Work Conditions

  • $48–$65/hr with Meta RSUs and semi-annual bonuses
  • Hybrid schedule with remote flexibility
  • $3,000 annual learning and wellness reimbursement
  • Full health, dental, vision, and mental health coverage
  • Access to petabyte-scale data infrastructure and internal experimentation platforms

Who Should Apply

Analysts and scientists who love turning complex data into decisions. You are equally comfortable writing SQL queries and explaining a confidence interval to a non-technical PM. You care about the quality of your analysis, not just the speed of your output.

About the Company

Meta runs thousands of experiments per week across its products, making rigorous data science a core part of how it builds. Data scientists here have access to some of the largest behavioral datasets in the world and work with cutting-edge internal experimentation infrastructure.

How to Apply

Apply via Meta Careers. Search "Data Scientist." The interview process includes SQL and Python coding rounds, an experiment design case study, and a behavioral interview.
