Role Context

Android engineers at Meta must account for enormous device and network diversity — from flagship phones to low-end devices in emerging markets. You will work on a product team owning a specific surface, writing Kotlin and Java code that must perform well across this full spectrum. Meta uses custom rendering and networking stacks, giving engineers exposure beyond standard Android SDK patterns.

Key Responsibilities

• Build product features for Meta's Android applications using Kotlin and Java
• Optimize app performance across low-end and high-end Android devices
• Develop reusable UI components and contribute to Meta's shared Android libraries
• Write tests and participate actively in code review to maintain quality
• Monitor ANR rates, crashes, and latency metrics and respond to regressions
• Contribute to architecture decisions for your product surface

Requirements & Skills

• 2+ years of Android development experience with published Play Store apps
• Strong Kotlin skills; Java proficiency is expected
• Deep understanding of the Android platform: lifecycle, threading, memory, and rendering
• Experience with Jetpack libraries (ViewModel, Room, Navigation, Compose preferred)
• Ability to profile and debug performance issues using Android Studio tools
• Comfort with modular architecture and dependency injection patterns
