Role Context

Data Engineers at Meta build the pipelines, schemas, and tooling that downstream teams depend on to make decisions. You will typically embed with a product vertical — such as Ads, Growth, or Integrity — and own the data layer for that area end to end, from raw event ingestion to curated dimensional tables. Data quality and pipeline reliability are treated with the same rigor as production software.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using Spark, Hive, and internal Meta tooling
• Design dimensional data models and schemas for analytics and ML feature stores
• Monitor pipeline health, SLAs, and data quality metrics proactively
• Partner with data scientists and analysts to understand data needs and implement solutions
• Optimize query performance and reduce compute costs across data workloads
• Document data assets and maintain a reliable data catalog for the team

Requirements & Skills

• 2+ years of experience building production data pipelines
• Strong SQL skills and proficiency in Python or Scala
• Experience with distributed compute frameworks (Spark, Flink, or Presto)
• Solid understanding of data modeling concepts (star schema, slowly changing dimensions)
• Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools like Airflow or similar
• Attention to data quality, testing, and observability in pipeline development
