Role Context

You will join a backend team building the API layer for a content streaming platform. The stack uses Node.js with Apollo Server for GraphQL and Express for REST endpoints, backed by PostgreSQL and Redis. Consumers of these APIs include React web clients and React Native mobile apps. As a fresher, you will own individual resolvers and REST routes, growing toward full service ownership within 90 days.

Key Responsibilities

• Build REST endpoints using Node.js/Express following RESTful design conventions
• Develop GraphQL resolvers and schema definitions using Apollo Server
• Write database queries using an ORM (Sequelize or Prisma) against PostgreSQL
• Implement request validation, error handling, and authentication middleware
• Document APIs using OpenAPI/Swagger for REST and schema documentation for GraphQL
• Write integration tests for your endpoints and participate in code reviews

Requirements & Skills

• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent with Node.js or backend experience
• Working knowledge of REST API design — HTTP verbs, status codes, and JSON payloads
• Basic GraphQL understanding — queries, mutations, and resolvers
• JavaScript/TypeScript proficiency for Node.js backend development
• SQL fundamentals for database interaction
• Git workflow knowledge and ability to write clear commit messages and PR descriptions
