Role Context

LVFR recruits complete a 16-week fire academy with strong emphasis on high-rise operations, assembly occupancy response, and desert environment considerations including extreme heat emergencies. All LVFR firefighters hold EMT certification. The department operates 20 fire stations and responds to over 80,000 incidents annually, including the city's high-profile special events.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond to fires in Las Vegas Strip hotels, casinos, and high-rise residential towers
• Deliver emergency medical services as a Nevada-certified EMT
• Handle extreme heat medical emergencies during summer months
• Support mass casualty incident operations at large-scale special events
• Perform vehicle extrication and technical rescue operations
• Maintain apparatus and equipment across 24-hour rotating shift cycles

Requirements & Skills

• Nevada residency; must be at least 18 years old
• High school diploma or GED required
• Pass LVFR written exam and physical ability test
• CPAT certification required
• Valid Nevada driver's license with clean driving record
• Pass medical exam, psychological evaluation, and background investigation
