Associate ML Engineer (Entry Level)

DataRobot

Full-time Hybrid United States

Job Description

About This Role

DataRobot is hiring Associate ML Engineers to work on its automated machine learning (AutoML) and AI governance platform. You will build the ML workflows and platform features that allow non-expert users at enterprise companies to build, deploy, and monitor ML models without writing extensive code.

Job Overview

  • Job Title: Associate ML Engineer (Entry Level)
  • Company: DataRobot
  • Location: Boston, MA / San Francisco, CA / Denver, CO / New York, NY / Austin, TX
  • Job Type: Full-time
  • Experience Level: Entry-level (0–2 years)
  • Salary Range: $30–$42/hr
  • Posted Date: 2026-06-01
  • Application Deadline: 2026-07-01

Role Context

DataRobot's ML engineering team builds the engine behind its AutoML platform — model selection, hyperparameter tuning, feature engineering automation, and AI governance capabilities. Associate MLEs work directly on the platform's ML pipeline code, contributing to features used by data scientists at global banks, insurers, and manufacturers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop AutoML pipeline components — model selection, ensembling, and hyperparameter search
  • Build and maintain AI bias detection and model explainability features
  • Implement model monitoring and data drift detection for production ML deployments
  • Write comprehensive unit and integration tests for ML pipeline components
  • Collaborate with customer-facing data scientists to identify and resolve platform limitations
  • Contribute to DataRobot's AI compliance and governance feature roadmap

Requirements & Skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's in CS, Data Science, or a quantitative field (2024–2025 grad)
  • Python proficiency with hands-on ML experience (scikit-learn, XGBoost, PyTorch)
  • Understanding of AutoML concepts — hyperparameter tuning, cross-validation, model ensembling
  • Familiarity with model explainability methods (SHAP, LIME) is a significant plus
  • SQL skills and comfort with tabular data analysis
  • Interest in making ML accessible and trustworthy for enterprise users

Benefits & Work Conditions

  • $30–$42/hr with DataRobot equity and annual performance bonus
  • Hybrid schedule with flexible remote policy
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance
  • $1,500 annual professional development budget
  • Generous PTO and parental leave

Who Should Apply

Recent ML graduates interested in the infrastructure and tooling side of data science rather than building models for a single product. This role suits people who want to make ML accessible at scale and care about responsible AI, interpretability, and MLOps practices.

About the Company

DataRobot is a pioneer of enterprise AutoML, with its AI platform used by over 1,500 global organizations including top banks, insurers, and manufacturers. Its platform enables end-to-end ML lifecycle management — from data preparation and model training to deployment, monitoring, and governance.

How to Apply

Apply at datarobot.com/careers. The interview includes a coding screen, a practical ML problem, and a panel discussion about your experience with automated or production ML systems. DataRobot values people who think about ML from a systems and usability perspective.
