About This Role

Databricks is hiring Software Engineers for its ML Platform team to work on MLflow, feature stores, AutoML, and the infrastructure that thousands of data scientists use to build and deploy models. This is an infrastructure and tooling role where your code will be used by the broader ML community.

Role Context

Databricks is the company behind the Databricks Lakehouse Platform and the open-source MLflow project. New grad SWEs on the ML Platform team build the tooling that enables end-to-end ML workflows — from experiment tracking and model registry to serving and monitoring. You will write code used by millions of data scientists globally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build new features for MLflow and the Databricks ML Platform in Python and Scala
  • Develop APIs and integrations between ML tools and the Databricks Lakehouse
  • Implement performance improvements and scalability fixes in ML serving infrastructure
  • Write comprehensive tests and contribute to CI/CD pipeline improvements
  • Collaborate with ML researchers and users to understand platform pain points
  • Contribute to open-source MLflow and present technical work in community forums

Requirements & Skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's in CS or Software Engineering (2024–2025 grad)
  • Strong Python programming and familiarity with ML workflows (training, evaluation, deployment)
  • Understanding of distributed systems or data engineering concepts (Spark is a plus)
  • Comfort with REST API design and backend service development
  • Open-source contribution experience is a strong differentiator
  • Enthusiasm for developer tooling and platform engineering
