Role Context

Apple's ML teams are small, focused, and ship directly to Apple platforms. New grad MLEs work alongside senior engineers who set a high technical bar. On-device inference efficiency, privacy-preserving ML techniques (federated learning, differential privacy), and model compression are key themes across many teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, train, and optimize ML models for deployment on Apple silicon devices
• Apply model compression and quantization techniques to hit latency and memory targets
• Write Swift, Python, or C++ code to integrate models into Apple frameworks
• Evaluate model accuracy and fairness across diverse user populations and languages
• Collaborate with hardware and platform teams on inference performance
• Contribute to Apple's privacy-first ML research and implementation practices

Requirements & Skills

• Bachelor's or Master's in CS, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (2024–2025 grad)
• Strong ML fundamentals and hands-on experience with PyTorch or Core ML
• Interest in on-device inference, model efficiency, or privacy-preserving ML
• Programming skill in Python; Swift or C++ experience is a plus
• Attention to detail and strong commitment to software quality
• Experience with NLP, speech, computer vision, or sensor data ML is preferred
