About This Role

Role Context

BAE Systems' York, PA facility is the largest defense vehicle manufacturing plant in the US, producing Bradley Fighting Vehicles and M109 Paladin howitzers. The Sterling Heights, MI site builds the Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle (AMPV). Entry-level manufacturing engineers are assigned to a specific vehicle program or subsystem and develop process expertise over their first 2–3 years. A senior engineer mentor is assigned for the first 12 months.

Key Responsibilities

• Author manufacturing process plans and assembly work instructions for armored vehicle subsystems
• Develop tooling and fixture requirements for vehicle chassis, turret, and hull assembly operations
• Support production floor troubleshooting and drive formal corrective action closure
• Participate in Manufacturing Readiness Reviews (MRRs) for new vehicle program production transitions
• Apply AS9100 or CMMI quality practices to manufacturing documentation and process control
• Coordinate with supply chain on Government-Furnished Equipment (GFE) integration requirements
• Present manufacturing progress at program reviews with Government program representatives

Requirements & Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering
• Knowledge of welding, machining, hydraulics, or vehicle systems is a plus
• Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings including wiring schematics
• Strong analytical and organizational skills for managing process documentation
• US citizenship required; must be eligible for Secret security clearance
• Willingness to work at production facilities and engage directly with skilled trades workforce
