Caterpillar Inc.
Caterpillar Inc. is accepting applications for its 2026 Engineering Rotational Development Program (ERDP) — Product Development Track. This 12–18 month program rotates recent engineering graduates across Caterpillar's product design, manufacturing, and testing engineering teams, building the skills needed to lead major product programs in one of the world's largest heavy equipment companies.
ERDP participants rotate through 2–3 engineering assignments within Caterpillar's global product group or component manufacturing divisions. Rotations include hands-on product validation testing, manufacturing process engineering, and design engineering for Cat's excavator, dozer, engine, or off-highway truck product lines. Each rotation ends with a structured debrief and a project presentation to senior leaders.
The ERDP is designed for engineering graduates who want both broad exposure and deep technical development in heavy equipment. Strong fit for candidates with coursework or project experience in mechanical systems, power trains, or manufacturing — and who are open to working at plant sites and proving grounds, not just in an office.
Caterpillar Inc. is the world's leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, and industrial gas turbines. With $67 billion in annual sales and operations in 190 countries, it employs over 107,000 people. Its Illinois manufacturing complex is among the largest industrial manufacturing campuses in the US.
Apply at the Caterpillar Careers portal using the direct link above. The ERDP application includes a resume, transcript, and short application questions. Shortlisted candidates complete a video interview followed by an onsite or virtual interview day with engineering and HR leaders.
