General Motors
General Motors offers the TRACK (Technical Rotational Associate Career Knowledge) Program for early-career manufacturing engineers. This structured two-year program places recent graduates into 3–4 rotations across GM's manufacturing functions — including stamping, assembly, powertrain, and EV battery production — building a broad operational foundation before specialization.
TRACK participants experience GM's full manufacturing ecosystem over two years. Rotations are designed to expose engineers to both product and process engineering, quality systems, and plant operations management. Participants are paired with senior mentors in each rotation and are expected to complete a defined project deliverable. Completion of the program qualifies engineers for senior manufacturing engineer or team leader roles.
The TRACK program is highly competitive and best suited for engineering graduates who are ambitious, mobile, and eager to understand GM's manufacturing operations from multiple angles before committing to a specialty. Candidates with prior internship experience at GM or in the automotive sector have a meaningful edge in the selection process.
General Motors is transforming from a traditional automaker to an all-electric vehicle company, investing $35 billion in EV and autonomous vehicle development through 2025. Its TRACK program is a core pipeline for the next generation of manufacturing leaders who will build GM's EV-era production systems.
Apply through GM's Early Careers portal at the link above. Search "TRACK" or "Manufacturing Early Career." The process involves an online application, a recruiter screen, and a technical/behavioral interview panel at a GM facility or virtually.
