Key Responsibilities
- Respond to fire, medical emergency, hazardous materials, and rescue calls as part of an engine company or truck company crew
- Operate fire suppression equipment including hoses, nozzles, pumps, aerial ladders, and extrication tools
- Provide Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Life Support (ALS) emergency medical care to patients on medical calls
- Conduct fire prevention inspections of commercial buildings, schools, and residential properties
- Participate in daily apparatus checks, equipment maintenance, and station housekeeping duties
- Attend mandatory training sessions, drills, and certification maintenance activities
- Maintain physical fitness standards required for safe firefighting performance at all times
Required Skills and Qualifications
- No four-year degree required — high school diploma or GED; Fire Fighter I/II certification required or trainable
- EMT-Basic certification required or willingness to obtain before hire date
- Exceptional physical fitness — pass CPAT (Candidate Physical Ability Test) or department equivalent
- Clean background check, drug screening, and comprehensive psychological evaluation
- Valid driver's licence; apparatus operator licence preferred
- Willingness to work rotating 24/48 or 24/72 shift schedules including holidays
