Diesel Mechanic – High Paying Mechanic Jobs No Degree Required

PowerDrive Fleet Services

Full-time Remote United States

Job Description

About This Role

PowerDrive Fleet Services is hiring Diesel Mechanics to maintain and repair Class 8 trucks, trailers, and diesel-powered construction equipment at our service facilities and mobile maintenance locations across the US. Diesel mechanics earn well above the national average without a four-year degree — skilled heavy-duty diesel technicians are among the highest-paid tradespeople in the country. If you hold an ASE Medium/Heavy Truck certification and have hands-on diesel experience, we're ready to make you a competitive offer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance, diagnosis, and repair on diesel engines (Detroit, Cummins, Paccar, Volvo), transmissions, drivelines, and braking systems
  • Use diagnostic software (Detroit Diesel Diagnostic Link, Cummins Insite, Navistar ServiceMaxx) to retrieve fault codes, perform bi-directional tests, and calibrate components
  • Inspect, service, and repair air brake systems, DOT pre-trip items, and trailer electrical systems
  • Perform DPF cleaning, EGR valve service, and aftertreatment system maintenance to maintain emissions compliance
  • Weld, fabricate, or source parts for structural and frame repairs on trucks and trailers
  • Complete repair orders accurately with parts used, labour times, and findings documented in the fleet management system
  • Maintain a clean, safe shop environment per OSHA and company safety standards

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • No college degree required — ASE Medium/Heavy Truck certifications (T1–T8) or equivalent OEM training preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on diesel engine and drivetrain repair experience
  • Proficiency with diesel diagnostic software for major engine brands
  • Must own a full set of personal mechanic tools; specialised tooling provided by PowerDrive
  • Valid driver's licence; CDL preferred for test driving repaired vehicles

What We Offer

  • Monthly earnings of $4,200–$6,300 based on certifications and experience level
  • Tool allowance programme and OEM diagnostic software licences provided
  • ASE certification reimbursement and funded factory training at major OEM training centres
  • Overtime opportunities during peak maintenance periods
  • Full medical, dental, 401(k) with 3% match, and annual uniform allowance
