About This Role
GroundForce Construction is hiring experienced Heavy Equipment Operators for civil construction, site development, and infrastructure projects across the United States. Heavy equipment operators earn well above the national median wage and the career requires no college degree — just the skills, safety record, and operator certifications that come from hands-on experience. Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy construction equipment including excavators, bulldozers, motor graders, scrapers, and compactors on civil construction and site prep projects
- Grade, excavate, fill, and compact earth, rock, and construction materials to specified elevations, grades, and tolerances
- Perform daily pre-shift equipment inspections; identify and report mechanical issues to the equipment maintenance team
- Read and interpret construction plans, grade stakes, and GPS grade control systems to achieve required earthwork tolerances
- Follow all site safety plans, OSHA regulations, and company-specific safety procedures at all times
- Coordinate with foremen, surveyors, and other trade crews to sequence excavation, grading, and utility installation work
- Maintain equipment logs, fuel records, and daily shift reports for project documentation
Required Skills and Qualifications
- No college degree required — NCCER heavy equipment operator certification or equivalent field experience
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience operating at least two classes of heavy construction equipment
- Ability to read construction plans, grade stakes, and GPS machine control systems
- Valid driver's licence; CDL Class A preferred for driving transport vehicles to job sites
- Commitment to workplace safety, daily equipment care, and professional teamwork on active construction sites
