Aircraft Mechanic – High Paying Aviation Job Without a Degree

SkyTech Aviation

Full-time Remote United States

Job Description

About This Role

SkyTech Aviation is hiring FAA-certified Aircraft Mechanics (A&P) for maintenance, inspection, and repair work on commercial and private aircraft across US maintenance bases. Aircraft mechanics are among the highest-paid technicians in the country and the role requires no four-year college degree — just an FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certificate and the mechanical skills to back it up. Join a safety-critical, well-compensated profession that keeps America's skies safe.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on airframes, engines, avionics, landing gear, and hydraulic systems per FAA-approved maintenance manuals
  • Inspect aircraft structures, components, and systems for airworthiness using required tools, NDT techniques, and approved inspection procedures
  • Diagnose mechanical and avionics faults using aircraft diagnostic systems, technical manuals, and engineering orders
  • Complete and certify maintenance work in the aircraft logbook and maintenance tracking system in accordance with FAA Part 43 regulations
  • Perform engine run-up tests, functional checks, and flight line maintenance support as required by the maintenance schedule
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and FOD-free work environment at all times
  • Participate in safety audits, regulatory inspections, and continuous airworthiness programmes

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • No college degree required — FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certificate is mandatory
  • Minimum 2 years of post-certificate aircraft maintenance experience on commercial or corporate aircraft
  • Strong knowledge of FAA regulations (Part 43, Part 91, Part 135, or Part 145 as applicable)
  • Ability to read and interpret complex aircraft maintenance manuals, wiring diagrams, and illustrated parts catalogues
  • Experience with Avionics/IFR systems, composite structures, or turbine engines is a strong advantage
  • Physical ability to work in confined spaces, on elevated platforms, and in outdoor environments in various weather conditions

What We Offer

  • Monthly salary of $5,000–$7,500 plus overtime and shift differential pay
  • Signing bonus for A&P mechanics with turbine aircraft experience
  • Funded recurrent training and endorsement programmes for specialised aircraft types
  • Comprehensive union or non-union benefit packages including medical, 401(k), and travel benefits
  • Career advancement to Inspection Authorisation (IA) holder, Lead Mechanic, and Maintenance Supervisor
