You will join one of the fastest-growing data and AI companies in the world, building the Databricks Lakehouse Platform — the infrastructure layer that powers AI and analytics workloads for thousands of enterprises.

Job Overview

  • Job Title: Software Engineer – New Grad (2026 Start)
  • Company: Databricks

Role Context

New grad engineers at Databricks join the core platform, runtime, or product engineering teams and work directly on distributed data systems that process trillions of records daily. Databricks engineers operate with a high degree of autonomy — there are no formal new grad rotations. You will be embedded in a team of 5–10 engineers tackling real system design challenges from week one.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and optimize distributed data processing pipelines in Scala, Python, or Java
  • Design and implement features in Apache Spark or the Databricks Runtime
  • Write high-quality, well-tested code that handles petabyte-scale workloads
  • Collaborate with researchers and ML engineers to integrate AI capabilities into the platform
  • Participate in architecture reviews and contribute to system design decisions
  • Improve observability and reliability of production platform services

Requirements & Skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science or related engineering discipline (Fall 2025–Summer 2026 grad)
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems, data structures, and algorithms
  • Proficiency in Python, Java, Scala, C++, or Go
  • Familiarity with distributed computing concepts (MapReduce, Spark, or similar)
  • Experience with databases, storage systems, or cloud platforms is a strong plus
  • Ability to think through system-level trade-offs and articulate design decisions

Benefits & Work Conditions

  • $45–$62/hr with generous Databricks equity and annual bonuses
  • Hybrid schedule with flexibility depending on team and location
  • Comprehensive health, dental, vision, and mental wellness benefits
  • $2,000 annual learning and conference budget
  • Remote work equipment stipend and home office setup support

Who Should Apply

You are a recent graduate with a genuine interest in distributed systems, data engineering, or platform infrastructure. You are comfortable with technical ambiguity, enjoy reading research papers for fun, and want to work on a product that sits at the center of the AI and data infrastructure stack. Databricks rewards engineers who take initiative and think beyond their immediate task.
