Role Context

Tata Motors operates 8 manufacturing plants across India producing 500,000+ vehicles annually — from commercial trucks and buses to passenger cars and Nexon/Tiago EVs. Tata Motors' supply chain manages 1,500+ Tier-1 suppliers and 10,000+ Tier-2 suppliers across India, procuring automotive components from sheet metal, plastics, electronics, and powertrain systems. SCM Analysts work within Tata Motors' sourcing, vendor development, or production planning teams — gaining exposure to automotive supply chain at India's largest domestic OEM. The rapid growth of Tata Motors' EV business makes this an especially dynamic environment — EV-specific supply chain challenges including battery cell sourcing, BMS procurement, and EV component logistics are expanding rapidly.

Key Responsibilities

• Support strategic sourcing for assigned automotive component categories — RFQ preparation, supplier selection, cost benchmarking, and negotiation support
• Manage purchase order processing, delivery scheduling, and production-critical component follow-up in SAP
• Monitor supplier delivery and quality performance — OTIF, PPM defect rate, and supplier scorecards for assigned portfolios
• Assist in vendor development activities — supplier capability assessments, APQP/PPAP tracking, and corrective action management
• Support production planning coordination — material availability tracking, sequencing schedules, and line-stop prevention
• Participate in EV supply chain projects — battery cell sourcing, EV component qualification, and EV production ramp support

Requirements & Skills

• B.E./B.Tech (Mechanical, Industrial, Automotive, or Production Engineering) or MBA (Operations) — 2024/2025 batch
• Understanding of automotive supply chain — OEM-Tier1-Tier2 structure, APQP/PPAP, and JIT delivery systems
• SAP MM module knowledge is a strong advantage
• Excel proficiency for cost analysis and supplier data management
• Knowledge of IATF 16949 quality standards is advantageous
• Interest in EV technology and EV supply chain is highly valued given Tata Motors' EV growth trajectory
