Cummins India is hiring fresh engineering graduates as Supply Chain Engineer Trainees within its India Supply Chain organization. You will work on procurement, material planning, and supplier quality for Cummins' India manufacturing operations — supporting the supply chain that produces diesel and natural gas engines, generator sets, and filtration systems for Indian and global customers.

Role Context

Cummins India operates 7 manufacturing plants in Pune, Pithampur, Chennai, and Bangalore producing engines, generator sets, filtration systems, and turbochargers — with an India supplier base of 500+ vendors across mechanical, electrical, and rubber components. Cummins' SCM function manages global and local sourcing, material planning, and supplier development within Cummins' Oracle-based ERP system and Six Sigma quality framework. Supply Chain Engineer Trainees work within a structured 18-month development program — rotating across purchasing, material planning, and supplier quality to build breadth before specializing. Cummins India's engineering-first culture and global supply chain connectivity give freshers access to technically rigorous supply chain development.

Key Responsibilities

• Support strategic purchasing activities for assigned mechanical and electrical component categories — RFQ, supplier evaluation, and negotiation
• Manage MRP-driven purchase order processing and delivery scheduling for production-critical components in Oracle
• Monitor and report supplier delivery and quality performance — OTIF, PPM defect rate, and supplier scorecard
• Assist in supplier development — conducting APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) activities and tracking corrective action plans
• Support material planning analysis — safety stock reviews, inventory coverage, and shortage escalation
• Participate in Six Sigma or DMAIC problem-solving projects within supply chain operations

Requirements & Skills

• B.E./B.Tech (Mechanical, Industrial, or Production Engineering) — 2024/2025 batch
• Understanding of manufacturing procurement and material planning fundamentals
• Oracle ERP or SAP MM knowledge is advantageous
• Familiarity with APQP, PPAP, and supplier quality management processes
• Six Sigma Green Belt training is a positive signal
• Excel proficiency for cost analysis and supplier data management
