Responsibilities
- Research and develop systematic macroeconomic models — quantifying relationships between inflation, growth, credit cycles, and asset prices across 30+ major economies
- Build alternative economic indicator datasets integrating satellite nighttime light data, container shipping flows, and electricity consumption to track real-time economic activity
- Develop NLP pipelines processing central bank speeches, economic policy announcements, and government publications to extract forward-looking monetary policy signals
- Apply causal inference and structural equation models to distinguish genuine economic relationships from spurious historical correlations in macroeconomic datasets
- Build economic scenario analysis tools enabling Bridgewater's portfolio managers to stress-test their portfolios under different global economic environments
- Conduct rigorous empirical research on portfolio diversification, risk parity, and All Weather strategy construction across 100+ years of financial market history
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or Finance (exceptional academic record)
- Strong macroeconomic and statistical knowledge — econometrics, time-series analysis, structural models
- Python and R proficiency for economic data analysis and model development
- Genuine curiosity about how the global economy and financial markets work
