Ford Motor Company

Full-time Hybrid United States

Job Description

Data Scientist – Vehicle Analytics (New Grad) – Ford Motor Company

Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) is a global automotive icon undergoing the most ambitious transformation in its 121-year history — transitioning to electric vehicles through the Ford F-150 Lightning, Mustang Mach-E, and E-Transit, while investing $50B+ in EV and software development through 2026. Ford's Model e and Ford Pro divisions are building a software-defined vehicle future where every Ford is a connected, data-generating platform. Ford's 4+ million connected vehicles generate terabytes of telemetry data daily — powering predictive maintenance, OTA software updates, and BlueCruise hands-free driving analytics. We are hiring New Grad Data Scientists in Dearborn to build the vehicle intelligence systems for Ford's connected EV future.

Responsibilities

  • Build predictive maintenance models from Ford's connected vehicle telemetry — using component sensor data to predict battery degradation, brake wear, and powertrain failure before they occur
  • Develop EV battery health analytics — building state of health (SOH) and state of charge (SOC) prediction models from charging session data for F-150 Lightning and Mustang Mach-E
  • Analyze BlueCruise hands-free driving data — modeling driver engagement, disengagement events, and road condition factors for Ford's Level 2+ driver assistance system improvement
  • Build warranty analytics models identifying early failure modes in Ford's manufacturing quality using dealer repair order data and component failure patterns
  • Develop customer usage analytics from FordPass app data — modeling charging behavior, range anxiety patterns, and feature adoption for Ford's product planning teams
  • Create data visualizations and executive dashboards tracking Ford's EV quality, software update adoption, and connected services revenue metrics

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Science
  • Python proficiency for data analysis and ML model development
  • Understanding of time-series analysis, anomaly detection, and predictive maintenance concepts
  • Familiarity with IoT data, automotive systems, or EV battery technology is a strong plus
  • SQL skills for querying Ford's vehicle telemetry and warranty data warehouses

Benefits

  • Competitive salary with Ford RSU equity and annual incentive
  • Ford vehicle purchase plan with significant employee discount
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits
  • 401(k) with Ford matching and Ford pension plan
  • Dearborn, MI headquarters with Ford's iconic campus and automotive innovation legacy
