Data Scientist – Health Analytics (New Grad) – Cigna Group

Cigna's Evernorth Predict analytics platform uses predictive modeling to identify high-risk employees for proactive wellness and disease management interventions before costly hospitalizations occur. We are hiring New Grad Data Scientists in Nashville to advance Cigna's analytics-driven health improvement programs.
Responsibilities
- Build medical cost prediction models for Cigna's employer health plan customers — forecasting per-member-per-month healthcare spending and identifying cost drivers
- Develop pharmacy adherence and specialty drug utilization models — identifying members at risk of non-adherence to chronic disease medications for pharmacist outreach
- Analyze behavioral health claims data to build depression, anxiety, and substance use disorder risk models enabling early intervention for Cigna's behavioral health programs
- Build network adequacy analytics — evaluating provider network coverage, specialist access, and care quality metrics for Cigna's network contracting and employer reporting
- Develop ROI attribution models measuring the financial impact of Cigna's wellness and disease management programs on employer health plan costs
- Create data visualizations and PowerBI dashboards helping Cigna's account managers present health analytics insights to employer clients
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Health Economics, or Public Health
- Python and SQL proficiency for healthcare analytics
- Familiarity with healthcare claims data and coding systems (ICD-10, CPT, NDC)
- Strong statistical modeling skills — GLMs, survival analysis, clustering
- Excellent data storytelling and visualization skills for non-technical healthcare executive audiences
