Clinical Data Scientist – New Grad

Genentech (Roche)

Full-time Hybrid United States

Job Description

Clinical Data Scientist – New Grad – Genentech (Roche)

Genentech, a member of the Roche Group, is one of the world's most productive biotechnology companies — creator of foundational cancer medicines including Herceptin, Avastin, Rituxan, Tecentriq, and Kadcyla that have transformed cancer treatment for millions of patients. Genentech pioneered the use of human genetics and biomarker-driven clinical trials to identify the right patients for the right medicines — an approach that is now the industry standard for precision oncology. Genentech's Product Development Data Sciences (PDD) group applies machine learning to clinical trial design, patient simulation, and biomarker analysis. We are hiring New Grad Clinical Data Scientists in South San Francisco to advance data-driven drug development.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze clinical trial datasets from Genentech's oncology, neuroscience, and immunology programs using SAS and R for primary endpoint analyses and safety reviews
  • Develop Bayesian adaptive clinical trial designs enabling real-time dose escalation, futility stopping, and patient enrichment based on interim data
  • Build digital biomarker models from wearable device and electronic patient-reported outcome (ePRO) data collected in Genentech's decentralized clinical trials
  • Apply natural language processing to extract structured adverse event narratives from clinical study reports and medical literature for pharmacovigilance signal detection
  • Develop tumor growth inhibition models and pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) analyses supporting Genentech's IND and NDA regulatory submissions
  • Collaborate with Genentech's clinical pharmacologists, biostatisticians, and regulatory scientists to deliver data science analyses for FDA submissions

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, Bioinformatics, or Data Science
  • R and Python proficiency for statistical analysis and data visualization
  • Understanding of clinical trial design, statistical methods (MMRM, CMH test, log-rank), and FDA regulatory requirements
  • Familiarity with clinical data standards (CDISC SDTM/ADaM) and biostatistical software (SAS, R) is a plus
  • Strong communication skills for presenting data science findings to interdisciplinary clinical teams

Benefits

  • Competitive salary with Roche/Genentech RSU equity and annual bonus
  • Work on cancer medicines that have helped tens of millions of patients worldwide
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits
