Data Engineer (Associate – Databricks Platform)

About This Role

Databricks India is hiring Associate Data Engineers to work on the Databricks Lakehouse Platform — the world's most popular unified analytics platform built on Apache Spark and Delta Lake. You will build internal data infrastructure, customer-facing platform features, and data engineering tools used by 10,000+ enterprise customers globally including Comcast, Shell, and Regeneron.

Key Responsibilities

• Build scalable data pipelines using Apache Spark (PySpark/Scala) and Delta Live Tables on Databricks
• Develop data transformation jobs processing multi-petabyte datasets in Databricks Unity Catalog
• Implement streaming data pipelines using Databricks Structured Streaming and Apache Kafka
• Write optimised PySpark and SparkSQL queries for high-performance analytical workloads
• Build data engineering automation tools and internal developer productivity libraries in Python
• Contribute to Databricks open-source projects: Delta Lake, MLflow, and Apache Spark

Requirements & Skills

• B.Tech/M.Tech in Computer Science or related field from a top institution (2025/2026 batch)
• Strong Python programming skills; PySpark or Spark experience is a strong plus
• Understanding of distributed computing concepts: partitioning, shuffling, and execution plans
• Familiarity with SQL, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), and data lake architectures
• Passion for open-source data engineering tools and the Apache Spark ecosystem
