ESG & Clean Energy Analyst – Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI)
Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI) is a leading independent nonprofit research organization transforming global energy systems — from oil to electricity, from fossil fuels to renewables — through market-based solutions and private sector partnerships. RMI's Center for Climate-Aligned Finance works with banks, insurers, and asset managers to align financial flows with net-zero emissions pathways, and its RMI Outlet initiative builds corporate clean energy procurement and clean transportation programs at Fortune 500 companies. We are hiring an ESG & Clean Energy Analyst in Boulder, CO to support RMI's corporate clean energy and sustainable finance programs.
Responsibilities
- Support RMI's corporate Scope 2 clean energy procurement programs — helping Fortune 500 companies source renewable electricity through PPAs, RECs, and community solar
- Conduct research on clean energy market trends, corporate renewable procurement mechanisms, and grid decarbonization pathways
- Analyze financial institution ESG commitments, climate pledges, and net-zero banking alliances (NZBA, GFANZ) for RMI publications
- Support RMI's electric vehicle fleet electrification programs helping corporate fleets transition to zero-emission vehicles
- Develop data models and financial analyses supporting corporate and financial sector clean energy decision-making
- Contribute to RMI research publications, corporate ESG briefings, and conference presentations
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Energy Policy, Economics, or Sustainability
- Understanding of renewable energy markets, corporate PPAs, and clean energy procurement
- Quantitative analysis skills; Excel and Python for energy data modeling
- Strong research writing skills for RMI publications and corporate briefings
- Passion for accelerating the clean energy transition through market-based solutions
