REI is a consumer cooperative with 24+ million members and $3.5B+ in annual revenues — America's largest outdoor retailer and one of its most celebrated purpose-driven businesses. REI's commitment to the outdoors extends to its sustainability mission: the company has pledged to protect 1% of revenue for the environment, achieve net-zero operations by 2030, and make outdoor recreation accessible to everyone. REI's corporate responsibility programs span environmental stewardship, responsible product sourcing, workforce equity, and community investment. We are hiring a Corporate Responsibility Analyst in Seattle to advance REI's ambitious sustainability agenda.

  • Manage REI's Scope 1, 2, and 3 GHG emissions inventory covering retail stores, distribution centers, and supply chain operations
  • Conduct responsible sourcing analysis and supplier sustainability audits across REI's private label product supply chain
  • Support REI's outdoor recreation advocacy work — tracking policy developments in public lands, trail access, and environmental conservation
  • Develop ESG metrics tracking REI's progress toward workforce diversity, pay equity, and inclusive outdoor community goals
  • Respond to ESG investor, media, and NGO inquiries on REI's sustainability practices and co-op governance model

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Business, or Social Sciences
  • Genuine passion for the outdoors, environmental conservation, and REI's co-op mission
  • Understanding of corporate sustainability, responsible sourcing, and ESG frameworks
  • Strong research, writing, and project management skills
  • Proficiency in Excel for sustainability data management and reporting

Benefits

  • Competitive salary with REI profit-sharing (paid to all employees as co-op members)
  • Generous REI gear and apparel discounts for employees
  • Medical, dental, and vision benefits
  • 401(k) with REI matching contribution
  • REI "Yay Days" — two additional paid days per year to enjoy the outdoors
