ESG Consultant – Associate – Bain & Company
Bain & Company is one of the world's top strategy consulting firms and a leader in ESG advisory through its Sustainability and Responsibility practice. Bain advises private equity firms, corporations, and governments on climate strategy, ESG value creation, and sustainable business transformation — and has set ambitious internal sustainability commitments including net-zero operations by 2030. We are hiring ESG Associates in Boston to work on Bain's fastest-growing practice area — helping clients across industries develop and execute winning sustainability strategies.
Responsibilities
- Support ESG strategy engagements advising corporate clients on sustainability roadmaps, ESG goal-setting, and stakeholder reporting
- Analyze client businesses' climate risks and opportunities using TCFD framework and scenario analysis methodologies
- Build models quantifying decarbonization pathways and evaluating carbon abatement cost curves for client industries
- Research ESG best practices, regulatory trends, and competitive benchmarking in sustainability for client case teams
- Support private equity clients on ESG due diligence — assessing ESG risks and value creation opportunities in portfolio companies
- Assist with Bain's internal ESG knowledge development and sustainability thought leadership publications
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from a leading university in Economics, Environmental Science, Business, or Engineering
- Strong analytical problem-solving and financial modeling capabilities
- Passion for sustainability and understanding of key ESG themes: climate change, circular economy, social equity
- Excellent team collaboration and executive communication skills
- Prior sustainability internship or research experience is strongly valued
