Data Engineer – Entry Level – Wayfair

Wayfair's StoreFront Personalization team uses ML to make every customer's homepage, search, and recommendation experience unique. We are hiring Entry Level Data Engineers in Boston to build the data infrastructure powering Wayfair's product discovery, pricing, and logistics optimization.
Responsibilities
- Build Wayfair's product catalog data pipelines — ingesting and transforming 33+ million product listings from 11,000+ supplier feeds into Wayfair's unified catalog database
- Develop Wayfair's customer behavior event pipeline using Apache Kafka — processing browse sessions, search queries, product views, and purchase events for recommendation models
- Implement Wayfair's dynamic pricing data pipeline — integrating competitor price monitoring, demand signals, and supplier cost data for Wayfair's real-time pricing engine
- Build Wayfair's supply chain analytics datasets — transforming order fulfillment, carrier performance, and warehouse inventory data for logistics optimization models
- Develop Wayfair's GCP data platform — building BigQuery datasets, Dataflow streaming pipelines, and Pub/Sub event ingestion for Wayfair's cloud data warehouse
- Implement dbt data models transforming Wayfair's raw operational data into curated datasets for the Business Intelligence and Data Science teams
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or Software Engineering
- Python and SQL proficiency for data pipeline development
- Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub) or equivalent AWS/Azure services
- Understanding of ELT/ETL patterns, data warehouse design, and event-driven data architectures
- Interest in e-commerce, supply chain analytics, or retail data science
