Data Engineer (New Grad) – ThoughtSpot
ThoughtSpot is the AI-powered analytics platform that lets anyone search their company's data using natural language — no SQL required. Used by 2,000+ enterprises including Walmart, Chevron, and Siemens, ThoughtSpot's Spotter AI agent answers business questions in plain English by querying connected cloud data warehouses in real time. ThoughtSpot recently launched AI-powered Spotter agents that proactively surface business insights, anomaly alerts, and trend forecasts without users needing to ask. We are hiring New Grad Data Engineers in Sunnyvale to build the data platform enabling ThoughtSpot's AI analytics engine.
Responsibilities
- Build ThoughtSpot's cloud data warehouse connectors — implementing high-performance query pushdown to Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, Databricks, and Starburst
- Develop ThoughtSpot's semantic layer modeling framework — building data model definitions that map business entities, metrics, and relationships for Spotter AI queries
- Implement ThoughtSpot's real-time analytics pipeline — processing live data streams from Kafka and Flink for ThoughtSpot's real-time dashboard and alert features
- Build ThoughtSpot's SpotIQ AI-driven insight generation backend — implementing statistical anomaly detection and trend analysis algorithms over connected data warehouse data
- Develop ThoughtSpot Everywhere embedded analytics APIs enabling customers to embed ThoughtSpot's search-driven analytics in their own applications
- Optimize ThoughtSpot's query generation engine producing efficient SQL for 50+ supported data warehouse dialects
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or Statistics
- Strong SQL and Python skills; Java or C++ experience is a plus
- Understanding of cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift) and analytical query optimization
- Interest in AI/ML, natural language processing, or search-driven analytics
- Familiarity with semantic data modeling, BI tools, or OLAP cube design is valued
