Junior Data Engineer – dbt Labs

We are hiring Junior Data Engineers to join our internal data team and help shape the future of analytics engineering.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain dbt data models transforming raw business data from Salesforce, HubSpot, Stripe, and product databases into analytics-ready tables in Snowflake
- Design and implement dbt project architecture — organizing models into staging, intermediate, and mart layers following dbt's best practices for modular SQL
- Develop data quality tests using dbt's built-in testing framework and Great Expectations to ensure data accuracy and completeness
- Build and maintain ELT pipelines using Fivetran and Airbyte to ingest data from 20+ SaaS sources into dbt Labs's Snowflake data warehouse
- Implement dbt Semantic Layer metrics definitions enabling consistent business metric definitions across BI tools
- Partner with analytics engineers and data scientists to understand data modeling requirements and deliver high-quality datasets
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field
- Strong SQL skills — window functions, CTEs, query optimization, and schema design
- Familiarity with dbt or strong motivation to become a dbt expert (hands-on learning path provided)
- Understanding of data warehouse concepts (Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift)
- Python proficiency for scripting, data validation, and pipeline development
