Software Engineer – Backend (New Grad) – Chime

We are hiring New Grad Backend Engineers to build the banking platform that works for everyone.
Responsibilities
- Build Chime's core banking backend in Python and Go — implementing checking and savings account management, balance calculation, and transaction posting for 22M+ members
- Develop Chime's payment rails integration — connecting to ACH, Visa debit card network, and instant payment systems (RTP, FedNow) for real-time fund movement
- Implement Chime's SpotMe overdraft protection backend — building ML model serving infrastructure for real-time eligibility determination and overdraft coverage authorization
- Build Chime's credit builder backend — implementing secured credit card account management, utilization reporting to credit bureaus, and credit score tracking for members
- Develop Chime's early direct deposit feature — implementing payroll recognition, advance funding, and early settlement workflows for members's paychecks
- Build compliance and fraud prevention services handling BSA/AML transaction monitoring, KYC identity verification, and account fraud detection
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
- Proficiency in Python or Go (Chime's primary backend languages)
- Understanding of banking systems, payment rails, or consumer fintech is a strong plus
- Familiarity with PostgreSQL, Redis, and microservices architecture
