Software Engineer – Backend (Entry Level) – HubSpot

We are hiring Entry Level Backend Engineers in Cambridge, MA to build the CRM platform that helps businesses grow better.
Responsibilities
- Build HubSpot CRM backend features in Java — implementing contact management, deal pipelines, and company data models serving 200,000+ business customers
- Develop HubSpot Marketing Hub backend services — implementing email campaign delivery, landing page A/B testing, and marketing analytics pipelines
- Build HubSpot's integrations ecosystem — developing REST APIs and webhooks enabling HubSpot's 1,500+ app marketplace partners to sync data
- Implement HubSpot's AI-powered features — including ChatSpot AI assistant, content writer, and predictive lead scoring using ML models
- Design MySQL and Elasticsearch data models for HubSpot's multi-tenant CRM data platform serving billions of contact records
- Build HubSpot's event tracking and analytics backend processing billions of website visits, form submissions, and email opens for marketing attribution
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
- Proficiency in Java (HubSpot's primary backend language) or Python/Go
- Understanding of REST APIs, database design, and web application architecture
- Ability to write clean, tested, maintainable code following agile engineering practices
- Interest in marketing technology, CRM systems, or helping small businesses succeed
