Software Application Engineer – New Grad – Workday

We are hiring New Grad Software Application Engineers in Pleasanton to build the next generation of Workday's cloud-native enterprise platform.
Responsibilities
- Build Workday HCM backend features in Java — implementing payroll calculation engines, benefits enrollment workflows, and global workforce management APIs
- Develop Workday Financial Management backend services — including general ledger, accounts payable, procurement, and financial close automation
- Implement Workday's multi-tenant cloud architecture ensuring tenant data isolation, security, and performance for 10,000+ enterprise customers
- Build Workday Extend custom application framework enabling enterprise customers to build custom apps on Workday's platform using Workday Studio and Workday Expression Language
- Develop Workday's Prism Analytics integration platform ingesting, transforming, and analyzing enterprise data from external HR and financial systems
- Implement Workday's REST and SOAP APIs enabling ERP integrations with SAP, Oracle, Salesforce, and third-party payroll and benefits providers
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Information Systems
- Proficiency in Java or Scala (Workday's primary backend languages)
- Understanding of enterprise software patterns, multi-tenant architecture, and RESTful API design
- Familiarity with SQL databases and cloud platform development (AWS/Azure)
- Interest in HR technology, financial systems, or enterprise SaaS application development
