Software Engineer – Backend (New Grad) – ServiceNow

We are hiring New Grad Backend Engineers in Santa Clara to build the AI-powered platform automating the workflows of the world's largest enterprises.
Responsibilities
- Build Now Platform backend services in Java — implementing workflow automation engine, approval routing, and business rule execution for enterprise IT processes
- Develop ServiceNow's AI features including Now Intelligence — building ML model serving infrastructure for predictive case classification, AIOps event correlation, and virtual agent NLP
- Implement ServiceNow's multi-tenant cloud infrastructure handling 8,100+ isolated enterprise customer instances on ServiceNow's proprietary cloud
- Build integration hub connectors linking ServiceNow to enterprise systems including SAP, Salesforce, Jira, and Microsoft 365
- Develop REST and GraphQL APIs powering ServiceNow's 2,000+ app developer ecosystem on the ServiceNow Store
- Design and optimize relational database schemas in ServiceNow's proprietary CMDB (Configuration Management Database) supporting millions of configuration items
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
- Strong proficiency in Java or Python (ServiceNow's primary platform languages)
- Understanding of web application architecture, REST APIs, and enterprise software design patterns
- Familiarity with SQL databases, cloud infrastructure, and microservices architecture
- Interest in enterprise software, IT automation, and AI-powered business process optimization
