Software Engineer – Backend (New Grad) – Zoom

We are hiring New Grad Backend Engineers in San Jose to join Zoom's platform teams building the communication backbone of the modern enterprise.
Responsibilities
- Build backend services in C++ and Go powering Zoom's core meeting server infrastructure — implementing session management, media routing, and signaling protocols
- Develop Zoom's AI Companion backend services — implementing real-time meeting transcription, summarization, and smart recording chapter features
- Build Zoom Phone VoIP backend services implementing SIP call routing, PSTN gateway integration, and enterprise PBX features for 3+ million phone seats
- Implement Zoom's REST API and webhook platform exposing meeting, recording, and user management capabilities to 1,500+ integration partners
- Build Zoom's user authentication and SSO platform integrating with enterprise identity providers (Okta, Azure AD, Google Workspace)
- Design MySQL and Redis data models for Zoom's user account management, meeting scheduling, and recording storage systems
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Electrical Engineering
- Proficiency in C++, Go, Java, or Python
- Understanding of real-time communications, networking protocols (TCP/UDP/WebRTC), or distributed systems
- Familiarity with video/audio codecs, WebRTC, or VoIP protocols (SIP, RTP) is a strong plus
- Strong CS fundamentals including concurrency, networking, and operating systems
