About This Role
Ola is seeking a technically creative Data Scientist – Maps & Navigation Intelligence to build the ML systems that power Ola Maps — India's homegrown mapping and navigation platform — improving ETA accuracy, traffic prediction, route optimization, and geospatial intelligence across India's complex urban mobility landscape.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop ML models for ETA prediction, route quality scoring, real-time traffic prediction, and map data quality assessment for Ola Maps
- Build geospatial ML models using GPS traces, road network graphs, and points-of-interest (POI) data to improve map accuracy and coverage
- Apply graph neural networks and geospatial deep learning for road network modeling and driver behavior prediction
- Develop supply-demand forecasting models that guide driver repositioning, surge pricing, and city-level demand prediction
- Collaborate with Ola Maps engineering, product, and data teams to integrate ML models into real-time navigation infrastructure
- Analyze large-scale GPS trajectory data and mobility patterns across Ola's fleet of millions of rides daily
Requirements & Skills
- B.Tech/M.Tech in CS, AI, Geoinformatics, or Operations Research
- 4–8 years of ML experience — geospatial ML, routing, or mobility data science experience is strongly preferred
- Strong Python and experience with geospatial libraries (H3, Shapely, GeoPandas, PostGIS)
- Experience with graph-based ML (graph neural networks, network analysis) is a significant plus
- Familiarity with mapping technologies (OpenStreetMap, GTFS, road network data) is highly valued
- Passion for solving real-world mobility and navigation challenges at India scale
