Data Science Analyst – Insurance Analytics

About This Role

EXL Service is seeking a quantitatively strong Data Science Analyst – Insurance Analytics to build predictive models and analytical solutions for EXL's insurance industry clients — applying advanced analytics to underwriting, claims, customer retention, and actuarial applications for P&C and life insurance carriers.

Key Responsibilities

• Build predictive models for insurance risk scoring, claims fraud detection, customer churn, and renewal propensity
• Apply actuarial and statistical methods for loss reserving, rate making, and portfolio risk analysis for insurance clients
• Analyze claims data, policy data, and external data sources to identify loss drivers and pricing optimization opportunities
• Develop customer segmentation and lifetime value models for insurance portfolio management
• Present model findings and business recommendations to EXL insurance client stakeholders

Requirements & Skills

• B.Tech/M.Sc./MBA in Statistics, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or Computer Science
• 1–4 years of analytics or data science experience — insurance domain experience is a strong plus
• Strong Python/R and SQL skills for statistical modeling
• Knowledge of insurance products, P&C claims lifecycle, and actuarial concepts is a significant differentiator
• Excellent communication skills for client-facing analytical delivery
