Data Scientist – Logistics & Delivery Intelligence

About This Role

Swiggy is seeking a data-driven and creative Data Scientist – Logistics & Delivery Intelligence to build ML models that optimize Swiggy's hyper-local delivery operations — improving delivery time predictions, route optimization, and delivery executive allocation for millions of daily orders across India.

Job Overview

As a Swiggy Data Scientist in the Logistics team, you will develop real-time ML models and algorithms that power Swiggy's intelligent delivery dispatch system — making sub-second decisions on delivery executive assignment, ETA prediction, and order batching that directly improve customer experience and delivery efficiency across Swiggy's 500+ city network.

Key Responsibilities

• Build delivery time prediction models (ETA) using geospatial data, real-time traffic, weather, restaurant preparation times, and historical delivery patterns
• Develop optimization algorithms for delivery executive dispatch, order batching, and hyperlocal delivery zone management
• Implement reinforcement learning or online learning algorithms for real-time dispatch optimization
• Analyze large-scale operational data to identify delivery inefficiency patterns and propose ML-driven interventions
• Design and run A/B experiments on dispatch and routing algorithm improvements
• Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate real-time ML models into Swiggy's dispatch infrastructure

Requirements & Skills

• M.Tech/Ph.D. in CS, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, or Statistics preferred
• 3–7 years of data science experience — experience with logistics, routing, or operations ML is highly valued
• Strong Python, SQL, and experience with geospatial data (Shapely, GeoPandas, H3)
• Familiarity with optimization algorithms (integer programming, combinatorial optimization, or RL) is a significant plus
• Experience working with high-velocity real-time data streams
• Passion for solving large-scale operational problems with data and algorithms
