Role Context

VMware's engineering teams build hypervisors, software-defined networking, and Kubernetes-based container platforms. Associate engineers work within specific subsystems — storage, networking, compute, or security — and learn the low-level systems architecture that makes VMware products industry standards for enterprise virtualization.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop features for vSphere, NSX, or Tanzu in C, C++, Java, or Go
• Implement and test hypervisor-level or network virtualization components
• Write and run automated regression and integration tests for infrastructure software
• Debug complex virtualization and networking issues across distributed environments
• Collaborate with platform architects on technical designs for new infrastructure capabilities
• Contribute to documentation and API guides for VMware's developer ecosystem

Requirements & Skills

• Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Systems Engineering
• Strong C, C++, Java, or Go programming skills
• Understanding of operating systems concepts — memory management, process scheduling, I/O
• Familiarity with virtualization (hypervisors, VMs, containers) or networking fundamentals
• Comfort working in Linux development environments
